
Suzanne Pleshette, born 31 January 1937, who died 19 January 2008 was an American film, television, theatre and voice actress. Pleshette began her acting career in the theatre and was a part of films during the latter half of the 1950s. She later appeared in prominent films such as Rome Adventure (1962), Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), or Spirited Away (192001). She was later seen in several television productions, mainly in guest roles. She also was Emily Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show from 1972 until 1978, earning several Emmy Award nominations for her work. Pleshette was the daughter of Geraldine (nee Kaplan), and Eugene Pleshette. She was born in Brooklyn Heights, New York City, on January 31 of 1937. The parents of the couple were Jewish immigrants from Russia and Austria-Hungary. Her mother was an artist, dancer and choreographer, performing under the stage name Geraldine Rivers. Her father was the stage manager for the Paramount Theater, Manhattan, and the Paramount Theater, Brooklyn.
